The life of a managed forest
Forest management is much more than care-taking what will become a cash crop
- CO2
- Agricultural mitigation
- Habitat
- Sustainability
- Vitality
Through management, the natural climax stage of forests is avoided through harvesting timber. Timber that would otherwise decay or burn; emitting CO2.
Management allows the elimination of non-native trees and minimizes a forests susceptibility to disease and fire. In addition, because the forests are growing (only 64% of new growth is harvested a year), wetlands and animal habitats are being protected without straining supply.
