Sustainability

As the name might suggest, Sustainable Cards is built upon sustainability.  Every part of our manufacturing process and the acquisition of materials has been scrutinized for the maximum environmental benefit.  No water is contaminated in the preparation of our materials and we've even invested in the most environmentally friendly printer that yields no water contamination, which is not an industry standard.

In addition to producing a unique and environmentally friendly product that will benefit the earth, we also support others that make our earth a cleaner and greener place for us and our children.

What is Total Sustainability

In pure and simple terms, it means “the use of products and practices that allows for the environment to maintain itself for years to come”.  To Sustainable Cards it means:

Why Wood is Environmentally Viable

No Chemicals are Used

The supply of our wood does not require a single chemical.  Plastic and corn cards utilize many harmful chemicals.  Corn card manufactures imply their cards are biodegradable but further research reveals that temperatures of 140 degrees for ten consecutive days are necessary for composting corn products.  The chemicals incorporated into their cards for biodegradability only promote fracturing of the cards into smaller, less manageable pieces with age under normal conditions.

No Water Contamination in Production of Wood Cards

Water is only used to soak the raw timber; rendering the water absolutely harmless and not requiring any attention or special disposal.  The water used in the production of wood cards can be released harmlessly back into the environment or simply recycled for the next batch of trees.  With plastic and corn-based cards, the use of harmful chemicals in combination with large quantities of water results highly contaminated water that has to be picked up by a third party for hazardous water treatment.
